Transition Week

Friday 6th July | 2 comments

It seems like everyone has had a positive transition experience this week. The children who have been back at Farfield today reported many fun activities and making new friends.

Next week will be our final week of rehearsals before the Leavers’ Show. We need everyone to bring in items for costumes and props please.

We have a lot of important July messages. A paper copy of this information will be sent home on Monday.

SATs Results

School will receive the Year 6 SATs results on Tuesday 10th July. We then need to spend a few days checking them. On Friday 13th July, we will be speaking to children individually to share their results with them. The results will also be sent home to parents/carers that day. If any parents/carers would like to come into school at the end of the day on Friday 13th July to chat about results, Mr. Sharp and Mrs. Heap will be in their classrooms until about 4:00.

Leavers’ Show

The Year 6 Leavers’ Show will take place on Wednesday 18th July. Children should arrive at 6:30pm for a 7:00 start and go to their classrooms. Parents/carers may take their seats once they drop of their children. Children should arrive in their school uniform – we will speak to children individually who need a different costume.

Leavers’ Party & Disco

The Year 6 Leavers’ Party & Disco will take place on Thursday 19th July. Before the disco, all Year 6 children are invited to gather in 6S for a “bring and share” party tea. The children will eat together and have an opportunity to go out on to the playground before the disco starts. Children should arrive at 6:30 pm with their food contribution (We will send home a letter detailing this on Monday). They should come up the farm track and enter the school through the 6S fire door. Tickets for the disco will be £2.50 (to be paid in advance). Mrs Walton will send out a separate letter about the disco tickets.

Returning Books

Please check at home for any school books you may have. We are particularly thinking of books from the “100 Books to Read in Year 6” list, Leeds Book Awards books and anything from the class or school library.

Taking Things Home

The Year 6 children will begin to take their school books home at the end of the final full week of school (Thurs 19th July). Please send in a number of strong bags for this purpose – reusable shopping bags and back packs are ideal.

Donating Uniform

If you have Farfield uniform that you no longer need (and have no one to hand down to), we would appreciate donations for school. We have a collection of spare uniform for muddy days and are often short of larger sizes.

Leavers’ Assembly

Our Leavers’ Assembly will take place on Tuesday 24th July from 9:15 am. The start of the assembly will be a review of the school year for all year groups, with the focus on Year 6 coming after about half an hour. Parents are very welcome to attend.

Each Year 6 child will be given a Year Book to have signed. They may also bring in a white school shirt to wear in the afternoon and have signed by children and staff. They may wish to bring in a permanent (Sharpie-style) marker for shirt signing. Collection will be at 3:20 as normal.

Have a lovely weekend!

A wonderful way to end lots of wonderful years at Farfield. Definitely an emotional time – for parents as well as children! Thank you all for the amazing time our children have had over the years.
